Shoes/Tights List

Attached is the link to the google drive for the list of shoes/tights required for each competitive group routine. You can zoom in or out in the document for viewing.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1lMq7on8oPVjQ0b5pV3V_LbYiIgJHTSZZYx0GNhCm3zA/edit

Shoes and tights can be purchased from your local dance supply stores and/or purchased on-line. If your shoes need to be purchased from a specific distributor the link is attached and highlighted in Yellow.

If you’re routine requires Black fishnets you will purchase those on your own. The style is listed and highlighted in Yellow.

PLEASE NOTE: STUDENTS MUST HAVE THE CORRECT SHOES FOR EACH COMPETITION CLASS BY JANUARY 10th!  Please keep this in mind when ordering items on-line. You may have to make a return or wait for shipping or potential back-order items.  Please also check the sizing chart for shoes as they do not always line up with street shoe size.

Please note the competition shoe style/color may differ from the required shoes for their weekly combo class. It is important to purchase the exact shoe listed. Judges will take off points at competition when our shoes differ. If you are uncertain if you have the correct shoe have your child bring them to rehearsals (before they wear them) to get approval.

If you are competing a solo, duet or trio please check with your instructor.

Cardinal’s Calendar Fundraiser ⚾️

We are offering another optional holiday fundraising opportunity selling 2021 Cardinal’s Baseball Calendars! ⚾️

The no risk terms enable you to keep $6.50 of the calendar’s $15 retail price. You’ll be billed only for the calendars you sell, with no minimum required to participate, and they accept reorders through spring 2021.

Order forms will be handed out this Sunday, November 8th and will be due Sunday, November 22nd. (There is no option to order on-line.)

You will turn in ONE CHECK WRITTEN TO ANGIE’S STUDIO for your entire order.

*Please include your dancer’s name and the word fundraiser in the memo line of the check.
*Please make sure your child’s name is on the order sheet.
*Please secure your payment to the order form by putting your order form and check in a sealed envelope with your student’s name on it (preferred) or attaching the check with a binder clip.

These make great holiday gift ideas for Cardinal fans!

The program capitalizes on two key components: 1) Our region’s passion for Cardinal’s baseball. 2) The popularity of calendars as holiday gift items. Fans love the oversized wall calendar, which features a beautiful design, spectacular photography and the upcoming season’s complete Cardinal’s schedule. And everyone loves the coupon section, featuring four pages of great deals from a variety of retailers.

Platinum is offering an amazing day of Master Classes in Contemporary, Jazz, Hip Hop, Tap, Musical Theatre, and Improv taught by the Best Teachers in the Industry.  To see our full Faculty list please visit our website.https://www.danceplatinum.com/platinum-dance-experience-staff
The Classrooms are broken down by age, Petites (8 & Under), Juniors (9-12), and Seniors (13+).  Juniors and Seniors will get six 1 hour long Master Classes and an additional included Audition experience where the dancers can earn scholarships and competition credits.  Petites will get three 45 minute classes and an Audition experience as well.  There is an additional fee for Petites that would like to dance All Day and they will get three additional classes after lunch. With the Coronavirus pandemic pressing on, everyone’s health and safety is our primary concern.  Here are the guidelines we will be incorporating –

  • We will be limiting attendance to allow for Social Distancing in each of the rooms.
  • In some cases, we will break down ages further to allow more space for dancers to move.
  • We will conduct temperature checks for Staff and dancers at the start of each day
  • Depending on space requirements, Observer bands will be limited and potentially unavailable.  All Observer bands will be purchased on site and based on availability.
  • There will be no water stations setup for dancers.  It is recommended that dancers come to the workshop prepared with their own personal water bottles.
  • Masks will be worn by Staff and Teachers.  Masks will not be required for dancers in class unless specifically mandated by a State’s own guidelines.  Please check individual state’s guidelines for mask requirements.  Dancers should wear a mask when not in a ballroom and walking through common areas.
  • There will be hand sanitizer stations in each room and at the Retail area.  We encourage dancers to use it often and wash their hands when they can.
  • Petites will continue an “All Day” schedule in their own room and will not join the Junior room for the second half of the day.  There is an additional charge for Petite dancers wishing to dance “All Day”.
  • We will be offering a Virtual Platinum Dance Experience Convention as well as the in-person Convention.  All dancers attending the Virtual Convention will have the same opportunities to win scholarships and awards.  Fees for the Virtual Convention will be half of what the In-Person rates will be.
  • Each State will have their own additional and specific Guidelines that we will include on our Website under the Convention Tab and included with each city.  By registering for our Convention, you have read and understood the guidelines provided not only by Platinum National Dance Competition but also the State’s guidelines where the Convention will be held.

Because space for the In-Person Conventions will be limited, it is important to get your registration in early!

Projected Summer and 2019/20 Extended Season

Dear Studio Families, we hope all of you are doing well and miss each of you. Our staff has been working hard with the LIVE ZOOM and video classes to continue to educate, motivate and keeping the mind and body active. Each instructor has been enjoying being able to see the students working hard in class. GREAT JOB STUDENTS!!!!

I would also like to add I am very proud and impressed with our staff for adjusting to this new way of teaching. They have been more than willing to do what they can to help out during this time. Ms. Andrea has been a tremendous help with the Zoom on line classes in coordinating with the instructors, planning the schedules and posting the on-line video links. In addition Ms. Hannah is doing a super job with engaging students in activities and posts through social media. Each and every one of my staff has been as helpful as possible and I appreciate and thank all of them for this.

With much thought and careful consideration for the staff and studio family members, we are excited to announce we have a projected plan in play in moving forward with summer classes and the 2019/20 extended season and recital.

We will be continuing the Zoom classes and recital review/choreography until May 22. Please be sure students are taking class to ensure they are learning the added choreography as most instructors will be finishing the dances within the next two weeks of Zoom classes.

We will then begin a 5 week summer Zoom session, June 1 – July 3. This will allow students to continue their class education and keep the mind and body working and conditioned. You may register for these classes on line, beginning May 18th. We ask that you please continue practicing your recital routines during this time!

Extended 2019/20 class season and Dance Team review

July 6 we will begin in studio recital review classes and competition rehearsals. We will plan for a late July or Aug recital. (Location and dates cannot be determined at this time as venues are not able to set bookings until guidelines open up for them to do so. We are in hopes by July 6 we will be able to have a recital date set) In the past we have held the recital on a Saturday or Sunday. We will be taking into consideration of possibly performing during the week, if necessary.

As we return back for the 2019/20 recital review classes and team rehearsals, we will be taking many precautions in modifying the classroom structure and enforcing health guidelines. Classes will be shortened to allow for students to exit the building and staff to clean as well as adjusting times to be working on recital routines. A modified schedule will be sent and posted by May 18th. There will be a google doc link created and attached to the adjusted schedule to use for class attendance. We ask for you to please add your child’s name to the class on the Doc so that the instructors will know who is planning on returning and attending the 2019/20 recital review classes and performing in the recital. (if you are unable to get into the google doc…. No worries… this is just a guide for instructors to have an idea of who will be attending.)

As Friday and Saturdays are often spent with vacationing, lake trips and many family activities over the summer months we thought it might be best to move these classes during the week. Please look for some adjustments to the schedule for the Friday and Saturday classes.

Health guidelines in returning back to IN STUDIO recital classes on July 6

  • Parents are asked to drop students off at the door. No-one else other than the instructor/Staff and students will be allowed in the building. If a young student needs for a parent to walk them in to class, we will allow one parent to do so. The parent then must return outside after the child is comfortable in the classroom
  • The instructors must wear a masks while in the building. Masks for students are optional. No masks are to be worn during silks for the safety of it possibly catching.
  • Students & Staff must wash their hands or use hand sanitizer before class
  • The instructor must take their own temperature and the student’s temperature before class. The temperature must not be over 101.1 in order to teach or take the class. I have the no touch, fast read, electronic forehead thermometers to use. (Parents must remain outside and available the first 5 min of class in case the student is not approved to take class. After waiting the 5 min, parents are welcome to leave and come back by the end of class)
  • Students in lobby must stay 6 feet apart and use the marked taped areas. We ask that parents be there to pick your child up outside the building on time
  • Instructors/Office assistant will disinfect highly touched areas such as door knobs, counters, Barres, thermometers, bathroom faucets & flush knobs, mats and silks between each class. The studio will be thoroughly wiped and disinfected each morning by 9:00 am
  • Instructors must take roll to keep track of all who enter the building

We will be contacting you within the next two weeks as to how this will be applied or reimbursed.

Competition Updates

Dear Starz Dance Team Family,

We wanted to take a moment to address the status of this competition season. There are still so many uncertainties, making it impossible to give any definitive answers at this time. We are keeping track of and following the on-going Covid-19 developments and mandates. We are also keeping close tabs on our competitions and options they are offering. All of which are best laid plans. Until the quarantine officially ends and we are given the all clear, we can only make guesses as to which options will work for our studio. We will continue to monitor all options afforded us, with the full focus and intent on participating in all three competitions in some capacity this season. Please review below the most updated information we have for each competition.

•At this time we are optimistic we will be able to attend the Platinum Nationals event at the scheduled time. They have not announced plans to re-schedule their regional event but continue to add virtual competitions on-line, which could be a possibility down the road. We will not be able to participate in a virtual experience until we are allowed back in the studio to dance together but will keep looking for possible later added dates. If it doesn’t pan out, as mentioned previously, we will apply the regional fees to your Nationals invoice.

Fly Dance Competition has rescheduled the St. Louis regional event for the weekend of May 29th-31st. However, this is also the weekend of the Wentzville School District’s 3 high school graduations, which affects a few of our dancers and several dance families. There is a chance graduation may be postponed or handled differently, so we’ll have to wait and see. They are also offering a virtual competition, which we’d have to submit our videos by May 1st with virtual awards on May 15th. Again, this will depend on when the shelter in place is lifted.

According to the website, Mark of Excellence has re-scheduled the St. Louis event for June 5-7th. However, we have not received any direct updated correspondence from their office.

We are truly hoping to finish this season strong. We genuinely miss each and every one of you. Our dance family is never far from our mind. We will continue exploring options to ensure we get the most of this season and all their hard work.

We appreciate your patience and support during this incredibly difficult and uncertain times. You are all in our continued thoughts and prayers.

Thank you,
Dance Team Faculty 🙂

Recital/Competition & Summer/Fall Registration Updates.

Dear Angie’s Studio Families,

We hope each and every one of you are doing well. We wanted to give you an update as to what our thoughts are for the remainder of the season, recital and class registrations for summer and fall. Our hopes are, once we are cleared to return back to the studio, we will continue to work hard on routines, flexibility and conditioning. We have reached out to several venues for multiple options to perform the recital but cannot be certain at this time exactly where and when it WILL be. The recital picture date alternatives have also been discussed with the photographer and have been postponed until further notice.

All our students have worked so hard for this day and we are doing everything to make certain this day WILL come for them.

We will be posting the 2020/21 schedule soon for you to begin registering for classes. You will be receiving your class placement information for registering for the 2020/21 season by email.

There will be a summer schedule posted with tentative start dates given the uncertainty at this time.

Thank you so much for all your support you have given. Hang in there…. We are all in this together!

The show must go on!

Ms. Angie and Staff
