Updated Starz rehearsal schedule

We wanted to update you on the planned rehearsal schedule for the remainder of the 2019-2020 Starz Dance Team season.

We are extremely excited we will be able to attend two competitions, especially with the unforeseen circumstances we’ve had to deal with. Due to the added competition, our Sunday rehearsals will need to be extended through September 13. As stated, there will be no charges for July rehearsals as the fees for April and the discounted fees for May will cover that. However, the studio will need to invoice for Team rehearsals for the month of August to cover rehearsal expenses for the September Legacy Competition. Invoices for this will be due August 1st.

Team Rehearsals will be held at their regularly scheduled times on the following Sundays:
•July 12th
•July 19th
•July 26th
•August 2nd
•August 9th – no rehearsal – We will be attending Fly Dance Competition
•August 16th
•August 23rd (We will also hold auditions on the 23rd. Times TBA but will be worked around the rehearsal schedule.)
•August 30th
•NO September 6th (Labor Day Weekend)
•September 13th – no rehearsal – We will be attending Legacy Dance Competition.

The new 2020-2021 will begin Sunday, September 20th. Schedule TBA.

We are looking forward to finishing the season strong! Thank you all for your incredible patience and perseverance.

Dance Team Faculty 🙂

Reminder: The Legacy Competition participation form is due July 11th

Added Legacy Competition

We have an exciting announcement!!!!
We will be attending Legacy Dance Championships LIVE stage competition the weekend of September 11-13 at Fox High School’s Rickman Theater in Arnold, MO. This will be in addition to the Fly Dance Competition August 7-9. There will likely be Covid regulations in place for the health and safety of students, spectators and staff. We will share this information as it becomes available.
Fees for this competition are as follows:
Solos: $110.00
Duet/Trios: $132.00 to be split between dancers
Groups: $45.00
per dancer per routine
This is not considered a mandatory competition due to the fact that it was not on the original schedule, however, we are hoping to have as many students participate as possible!!!

We will need a YES OR NO regarding your participation by July 11th for billing purposes.  A survey will be sent similar to the recital survey for your convenience.

Fees will appear in your parent portal by July 15th and will be due no later than August 1st.
Reminder:
Fly entry fees have already been paid and applied to our August 7-9 competition.
Platinum did not issue a refund. Instead they applied fees to next years competition.
Mark of Excellence fees have already either been refunded to you or applied to any outstanding balance with Angie’s studio.
If you have any questions regarding the competition please let me know.
If you have any questions regarding your balance or payments please contact the studio directly.

Starz Competition Season Updates

Hello Starz Dance Team Family,

We hope this e-mail finds you all healthy and happy. We wanted to give you some updates on our tentative plans for the rest of the competition season.

Mark of Excellence has canceled the June 5-7th competition at the St. Charles Convention Center. They will not be re-scheduling or offering virtual competitions for the rest of 2020 season. Within the next two weeks, refunds will be given or credits will be applied to any outstanding balances.

We are still very optimistic we will be able to attend the August 7th – 9th Fly Dance Competition. Please keep that weekend marked on your calendars.

We will be holding Sunday Team Zoom rehearsals on May 17th & May 31st. The adjusted schedule and Zoom links are attached to the bottom of this e-mail. We will then take a break from Sunday Team Zoom rehearsals during the month of June with tentative plans to start back with regularly scheduled Sunday Team rehearsals in the studio on Sunday, July 12th. There will be no additional fees for the July rehearsal schedule.

Auditions for the 2020/2021 Starz Dance Team season will be held on August 23rd with Starz Team rehearsals starting September 13th. Details TBA.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue to navigate the ever changing situation. There is certainly light at the end of the tunnel and we look forward to getting back in the studio and getting our students back on stage!

With gratitude,
Dance Team Faculty 🙂

Projected Summer and 2019/20 Extended Season

Dear Studio Families, we hope all of you are doing well and miss each of you. Our staff has been working hard with the LIVE ZOOM and video classes to continue to educate, motivate and keeping the mind and body active. Each instructor has been enjoying being able to see the students working hard in class. GREAT JOB STUDENTS!!!!

I would also like to add I am very proud and impressed with our staff for adjusting to this new way of teaching. They have been more than willing to do what they can to help out during this time. Ms. Andrea has been a tremendous help with the Zoom on line classes in coordinating with the instructors, planning the schedules and posting the on-line video links. In addition Ms. Hannah is doing a super job with engaging students in activities and posts through social media. Each and every one of my staff has been as helpful as possible and I appreciate and thank all of them for this.

Extended 2019/20 class season and Dance Team review

July 6 we will begin in studio recital review classes and competition rehearsals. We will plan for a late July or Aug recital. (Location and dates cannot be determined at this time as venues are not able to set bookings until guidelines open up for them to do so. We are in hopes by July 6 we will be able to have a recital date set) In the past we have held the recital on a Saturday or Sunday. We will be taking into consideration of possibly performing during the week, if necessary.

As we return back for the 2019/20 recital review classes and team rehearsals, we will be taking many precautions in modifying the classroom structure and enforcing health guidelines. Classes will be shortened to allow for students to exit the building and staff to clean as well as adjusting times to be working on recital routines. A modified schedule will be sent and posted by May 18th. There will be a google doc link created and attached to the adjusted schedule to use for class attendance. We ask for you to please add your child’s name to the class on the Doc so that the instructors will know who is planning on returning and attending the 2019/20 recital review classes and performing in the recital. (if you are unable to get into the google doc…. No worries… this is just a guide for instructors to have an idea of who will be attending.)

As Friday and Saturdays are often spent with vacationing, lake trips and many family activities over the summer months we thought it might be best to move these classes during the week. Please look for some adjustments to the schedule for the Friday and Saturday classes.

Health guidelines in returning back to IN STUDIO recital classes on July 6

  • Parents are asked to drop students off at the door. No-one else other than the instructor/Staff and students will be allowed in the building. If a young student needs for a parent to walk them in to class, we will allow one parent to do so. The parent then must return outside after the child is comfortable in the classroom
  • The instructors must wear a masks while in the building. Masks for students are optional. No masks are to be worn during silks for the safety of it possibly catching.
  • Students & Staff must wash their hands or use hand sanitizer before class
  • The instructor must take their own temperature and the student’s temperature before class. The temperature must not be over 101.1 in order to teach or take the class. I have the no touch, fast read, electronic forehead thermometers to use. (Parents must remain outside and available the first 5 min of class in case the student is not approved to take class. After waiting the 5 min, parents are welcome to leave and come back by the end of class)
  • Students in lobby must stay 6 feet apart and use the marked taped areas. We ask that parents be there to pick your child up outside the building on time
  • Instructors/Office assistant will disinfect highly touched areas such as door knobs, counters, Barres, thermometers, bathroom faucets & flush knobs, mats and silks between each class. The studio will be thoroughly wiped and disinfected each morning by 9:00 am
  • Instructors must take roll to keep track of all who enter the building

ANGELA KORTKAMP, OWNER & DIRECTOR, OR ANY FACULTY MEMBER LIABLE FOR ANY INJURY POSSIBLY SUSTAINED OR ANY ILLNESS CONTRACTED WHILE TAKING THESE ONLINE OR INSTUDIO CLASSES OR PARTICIPATING IN ANY ACTIVITIES POSTED BY ANGIE’S STUDIO OR FACULTY MEMBER.

As April and Mays tuition was charged with a %25 discount off Mays tuition….there will be no additional tuition or dance team payments for the extended 2019/20 recital season beginning July 6 – Recital.  Instructors teaching classes will continue to be paid their regular pay in addition to any of the on-line classes or videos they have been providing for their students. For those who have paid in full for their 2019/20 tuition and dance team fees, you will also receive the 25% discount given by the studio, due to this uncertain time. We will be contacting you within the next two weeks as to how this will be applied or reimbursed.

Myself and staff want to thank you for your patients and continued support. Through your kind support…. we have been able to offer continuous employment for instructors and staff to be able to provide students the best education we can during this uncertain time.

Note……The 2020/21 season will now begin on Sept. 8. Any August tuition payments made for the 2020/21 season will now be applied to your September tuition.

The Starz Dance Team Audition dates will remain the same. Auditions are scheduled for August 23 and rehearsal will begin Sept. 20 of 2020. Ms. Andrea will be sending information out by the end of the week on the 2019/20 competition updates. Please look for that to come.

Competition Team Update for the 2019/20 Season

Dear Starz Dance Team Family,

We wanted to update you on some potential re-scheduled dates for this competition season, as well as plans to resume competition group rehearsals via Zoom. There are still so many uncertainties, but we ask that you reserve the following dates.

Zoom Team rehearsals will resume next Sunday, May 3rd. There will be several revisions to the usual Sunday schedule. We will get that to you as soon as possible.

•We have made the tough decision to forgo the Platinum Nationals in Pigeon Forge, TN for 2020. With all the unknowns and the financial burden traveling may impose on families during this difficult time, we feel it’s best to hold off until next Summer. Your Platinum fees already paid will be applied to next years Platinum regional registration fee. If you are a graduating senior, we will be in touch.

•Fly National Dance Competition has rescheduled their St. Louis Regional event for August 7th-9th, 2020. (Please mark your calendars.)

We appreciate your patience and continued support. We are getting closer to figuring out how this season will play out. We are doing our best and staying optimistic for an amazing finish to a hard fought season.

Those students traveling to Nationals or the Performance Opportunity, will continue classes and payments during the summer up until the date of the competition.

OPTIONAL PERFORMANCE OPPERTUNITIES – Performance opportunities will be posted as they become available. Liberty Showcase, Wentzville Days, Fourth of July Parade, H.S. Exhibitions, Wentzville October Fest, Cardinal Game, Winter Parade etc…

Competition Updates

Dear Starz Dance Team Family,

We wanted to take a moment to address the status of this competition season. There are still so many uncertainties, making it impossible to give any definitive answers at this time. We are keeping track of and following the on-going Covid-19 developments and mandates. We are also keeping close tabs on our competitions and options they are offering. All of which are best laid plans. Until the quarantine officially ends and we are given the all clear, we can only make guesses as to which options will work for our studio. We will continue to monitor all options afforded us, with the full focus and intent on participating in all three competitions in some capacity this season. Please review below the most updated information we have for each competition.

•At this time we are optimistic we will be able to attend the Platinum Nationals event at the scheduled time. They have not announced plans to re-schedule their regional event but continue to add virtual competitions on-line, which could be a possibility down the road. We will not be able to participate in a virtual experience until we are allowed back in the studio to dance together but will keep looking for possible later added dates. If it doesn’t pan out, as mentioned previously, we will apply the regional fees to your Nationals invoice.

Fly Dance Competition has rescheduled the St. Louis regional event for the weekend of May 29th-31st. However, this is also the weekend of the Wentzville School District’s 3 high school graduations, which affects a few of our dancers and several dance families. There is a chance graduation may be postponed or handled differently, so we’ll have to wait and see. They are also offering a virtual competition, which we’d have to submit our videos by May 1st with virtual awards on May 15th. Again, this will depend on when the shelter in place is lifted.

According to the website, Mark of Excellence has re-scheduled the St. Louis event for June 5-7th. However, we have not received any direct updated correspondence from their office.

We are truly hoping to finish this season strong. We genuinely miss each and every one of you. Our dance family is never far from our mind. We will continue exploring options to ensure we get the most of this season and all their hard work.

We appreciate your patience and support during this incredibly difficult and uncertain times. You are all in our continued thoughts and prayers.

Thank you,
Dance Team Faculty 🙂

Recital/Competition & Summer/Fall Registration Updates.

Dear Angie’s Studio Families,

We hope each and every one of you are doing well. We wanted to give you an update as to what our thoughts are for the remainder of the season, recital and class registrations for summer and fall. Our hopes are, once we are cleared to return back to the studio, we will continue to work hard on routines, flexibility and conditioning. We have reached out to several venues for multiple options to perform the recital but cannot be certain at this time exactly where and when it WILL be. The recital picture date alternatives have also been discussed with the photographer and have been postponed until further notice.

All our students have worked so hard for this day and we are doing everything to make certain this day WILL come for them.

We will be posting the 2020/21 schedule soon for you to begin registering for classes. You will be receiving your class placement information for registering for the 2020/21 season by email.

There will be a summer schedule posted with tentative start dates given the uncertainty at this time.

Thank you so much for all your support you have given. Hang in there…. We are all in this together!

The show must go on!

Ms. Angie and Staff

Shoes/Tights

Attached is the list of shoes/tights required for each competitive group routine.

Shoes and tights can be purchased from your local dance supply stores and/or purchased on-line. If your shoes need to be purchased from a specific distributor the link is attached.

If you’re routine requires Black fishnets you will purchase those on your own this season. The style is listed.

PLEASE NOTE: STUDENTS MUST HAVE THE CORRECT SHOES FOR EACH COMPETITION CLASS BY JANUARY 5th! Please keep this in mind when ordering items on-line. You may have to make a return or wait for shipping or potential back-order items. Please also check the sizing chart for shoes as they do not always line up with street shoe size.

Please note the competition shoe style/color may differ from the required shoes for their weekly combo class. It is important to purchase the exact shoe listed. Judges will take off points at competition when our shoes differ. If you are uncertain if you have the correct shoe have your child bring them to rehearsals (before they wear them) to get approval.

If you are competing a solo, duet or trio please check with your instructor.
